Vannes is a French commune located in western France, on the south coast of the Brittany region, and prefecture of the Morbihan département. In 2021, the city of Vannes had 54,420 inhabitants, and with its agglomeration 175,163. An economic center and tourist destination at the head of an urban unit with 81,516 inhabitants on January 1 2021, Vannes is the department's 2nd most populous city, after Lorient, and ranks 5th in the Brittany region, as well as Brittany's 3rd university hub.
