The New York Knicks are the definition of loud mediocrity. Their fans act like every decent playoff run is the second coming of basketball greatness, only to end up crying by June like clockwork. Madison Square Garden gets treated like the center of basketball culture, but half the time it’s just a stage for overpriced disappointment and recycled nostalgia from the 90s. Every year it’s “this is our year,” and every year the Knicks find a new, creative way to embarrass themselves. The franchise survives almost entirely on hype, delusion, and the fact that they play in New York.
