Explore Spain in WorldGuessr! The Iberian Peninsula's largest country features the high central Meseta plateau, surrounded by mountain ranges and coastal lowlands. Navigate from the green, rainy Basque Country and Galicia to the arid plains of Castile, the Mediterranean coast, and the Canary Islands off Africa. Regional languages (Catalan, Basque, Galician) appear on signage in their territories. Distinctive architecture varies from northern stone houses to southern whitewashed pueblos blancos to Moorish influences in Andalusia.

How to recognize Spain

Spain has white plates with a blue strip on the left. Town signs are white rectangles with a black border. Route numbers are blue for autovías (A-), red for national roads (N-), and other colors for regional roads. Yield signs read CEDA EL PASO. Much of the interior is a dry plateau with olive groves, wheat fields and small towns with tiled roofs.

Whitewashed houses point to Andalusia in the south. Green hills and stone houses point to Galicia, Asturias and the Basque Country in the north, where signs may be bilingual in Galician or Basque. Catalonia uses Catalan on signs. The Canary Islands are volcanic with black soil and palms; the Balearics are Mediterranean with pine and limestone.
